About Ben

Ben is a writer, podcaster and rural communications specialist based in the east of England. He is the founder of RuralPod Media, the only podcast production company to specialise in the rural sector.

His passion is telling rural stories through writing and podcasting and he has built an extensive network of rural contacts across the UK.

His podcasts include the Meet the Farmers Podcast and Rural Business Focus, now both produced by RuralPod Media.

His work has been published by Farmers Weekly, Wicked Leeks, The Guardian, The Sustainable Food Trust, Earth Island Journal, The Countryman and the Soil Association.

Ben grew up on a family farm on the Essex coast and has built practical experience across a number of farm and diversified businesses.

He holds a Performance Diploma from Trinity College London (Distinction), a First Class degree in History from Bristol University (where he was awarded the George Hare Leonard Prize), a Diploma in Freelance and Feature Writing with the London School of Journalism (Honours), and a Post Graduate Diploma in Agriculture from the Royal Agricultural University in Cirencester (Distinction).

He is a member of the British Guild of Agricultural Journalists.

Ben has worked on projects with Agricology, the National Trust, Bristol University and Essex Wildlife Trust, among others. He was on the committee of A Focus on Nature, the youth nature network, for a number of years.
